The Epistle lesson today speaks to me partially because it speaks of light in the darkness.
As we near the end of February I tend to feel very dark.
I’m tired of snow and cold and dirty white. I’m fed up with early nights and late mornings. I’m desperate for the light of spring to show forth in the midst of winter.
It is in these moments that I most turn to scripture, especially those that remind me that Christ is the light that will not be put out and that shines out of the darkness. When the sadness of winter starts to over take me, I remember who I am, whose I am, and who I serve.
